Pretty
Okafor, the President, Performing Musicians’ Employers Association of Nigeria
(PMAN), on Sunday urged the three tiers of government to give priority
attention to the development of the creative industry.
Okafor
told the Naijaroyaltyculture.blogspot.com in Lagos that the country was blessed
with talents.
Nigeria
can be number one in creativity globally if the three tiers of government can
constantly train people and promote creative arts.
Government
should also provide an enabling environment for creativity to thrive, both at
home and abroad,’’ he said.
He said
that Nigeria’s abundance creative ingenuity would have grown beyond its present
level if government had supported it.
We are
number one in Africa and number three in the world but it is all about
individual efforts.
There
is creativity in every home, every state and every tribe in Nigeria; we have no
business being poor or talking about joblessness.
In
every Nigerian home, there is a creative person and we need to explore it to
pay us.
Creativity
is a major resource and we need to harness and managed our creativity, which if
well planned, will contribute to the nation’s GDP.
The
Federal Government must support the Nigerian creative industry through
appropriate legislation, regulation and enforcement’’.
